Here is one thing I've realized this week:
I am going to have a baby...before the sour cream in my fridge expires!
It's true- it says so, right there, on the rim of the container. November 4th.
No matter what- our 4th child will be here before that date ever arrives. (long before hopefully)
AHHHH!
I can not express the gamut of emotions that flow through me as I contemplate the closeness of our upcoming arrival. The first thing I feel is a crushing sense of FEAR and DREAD!
This is really going to hurt.
You know how everybody always says that you "forget" all about the "bad" parts of labor as soon as the baby comes. Well that is a big LIE! Sure you forget about it- for a while. But then one day you find yourself 10 days away from repeating the same experience and it HITS YOU! You really haven't forgotten a thing- and you know exactly what you are in for.
And what's more- There is NO turning back.
Once that initial thought runs it's course through my mind, I'm often overcome with a overwhelming desire to meet this little being. This creature that up until recently I've only ever been willing to call "leechy little thing." Suddenly every kick and movement reminds me that it is there, and real, and mine...and he will be here soon.
There is no turning back- and I'm so glad!
How is it possible to feel wracked with such dread and yet soothed with excited anticipation - all at the same time?

And who knew that opening my fridge could invoke such emotion?
